In their new, most extensive project to date, "Pandemia", the Frankfurt duo has intensively studied the music of past pandemics. From the image of the "dance of death" during the plague epidemic in the 14th century to the Spanish flu and the Corona pandemic, The OHOHOHS invite their listeners on a journey in which music unites the fates of today and then as a unifying element.
As a moment of collective crisis management, important musical works are arranged in OHOHOH style. The spectrum ranges from Mozart to Verdi to Queen. At the centre of the concert is the performance of their latest composition Symphony No.1 - "Corona Symphony".
With the OMNIAstrings string orchestra, the soprano Maja Bader and the bass Frieder Gottwald, the two brought the programme to the stage for the first time on 03.12.2022 in the completely sold-out Katharinenkirche.
THE OHOHOHS create a programme born out of crisis, which is based in its structure on the spiral model of overcoming grief and crisis according to Erika Schuchhardt. According to researcher Erika Schuchhardt, people go through eight phases of crisis management: Uncertainty, Certainty, Aggression, Negotiation, Depression, Acceptance, Activity, Solidarity. At the same time, musical expressions of all these characteristic attributes of a crisis are taken up and brought to the stage in OHOHOH's interpretation, together with renowned guest musicians. The concert is thus a moment of collective crisis management.
Together with the musicians, the audience travels through European music history, takes part in the fates of great composers and experiences the reverberations of past times through the universal language of music. But THE OHOHOHS do not leave it alone with a musical selection and its performance. They have set themselves the goal of combining classical music with contemporary club music, thus creating a value-free dialogue between serious and popular music. Cautiously, always keeping the value of classical music in mind, and yet courageously, sometimes even cheekily, they want to show listeners of all ages the beauty of this unique music and bring it into the modern age by fusing it with the now.
